Causes of Downtime
System downtime can be caused by:
- Internet connectivity issues.
- Payment network system failures.
- Software glitches / failures.
- Large-scale system failures
During large-scale incidents, iStore Pay works to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and we will keep our merchants updated via email and / or the iStore Pay App.
Alternative Payment Methods During Downtime
If iStore Pay is unavailable, merchants can continue operating using:
- Cash - keep a small float on hand to provide change. This allows normal cash transactions to continue.
- EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) - customers can make an EFT payment. While this takes longer to reflect, requesting the customer to select "Notify of Payment" provides a direct notification from their bank or the customer can use an instant EFT payment, which normally reflects instantly.
- Cardless cash withdrawal or money voucher/send – This allows payment to be sent to your cellphone number and cash can be withdrawn from a ATM at a convenient time.
