What is a Payout?
A payout is the total sum of transactions you have processed, grouped together and paid into your Nominated Bank Account after fees, refunds, chargebacks and any other deductions are applied. Think of it as your daily takings landing in your bank, minus the small costs of running the service.
For more on how the deductions are worked out, see Net Settlement.
When Payouts Happen
- iStore Pay payouts are made on a Next Business Day basis.
- Transactions you accept on a banking day are settled to your bank account on the following banking day, provided your balance meets the minimum threshold.
- A “Banking Day” is any day when South African banks are open for normal business. Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays are not banking days.
- Transactions taken on a non-banking day will be included in the next available payout.
- Once a payout is initiated, the time it takes to reflect in your bank account depends on your bank’s clearing times. Most accounts will see the funds the next business day, but some may take a little longer.
Minimum Payout Balance
- During our Limited Time Launch Promotion (until 31 July 2026), accounts with a balance of more than R500 receive free daily settlements. After 31 July 2026, the standard payout fee applies. See [Fee Summary] for the full breakdown.
What Counts as Your Available Balance
Your available balance is the total value of approved transactions, minus:
- Transaction fees
- Payout fees (where applicable)
- Monthly fees (where applicable)
- Refunds you have processed
- Chargebacks and any related scheme fees or fines
- Reversals and adjustments
- Any amount being held in a Reserve Account, where applicable
- Any other amounts owing under your merchant agreement
For more on how each of these is applied, see Net Settlement.
Where Payouts Land
- Payouts are paid into the Nominated Bank Account you provided during sign-up.
- The Nominated Bank Account must be a South African Rand account in the name of the registered business or, for sole proprietors, in your own name.
- iStore Pay does not pay out to third-party accounts, family members’ accounts or directors’ personal accounts where the business is registered as a juristic person.
- To update your Nominated Bank Account, please contact us via any of our Support Channels. We will need to verify the new account before payouts can be redirected.
- See [Business Information Updates] for more on this.
Viewing Your Payouts
You can view a full history of your payouts in the App.
- Open the iStore Pay App and select History on the bottom right of your screen.
- Switch to the Payouts tab.
- Select any payout to see a breakdown of the transactions, fees, refunds and any other deductions that make up that payout.
Payout Statements
- Each payout has a statement showing the total amount paid into your bank, the transactions included, and the deductions applied.
- A monthly statement is also emailed to you, summarising all payouts and transactions for that month.
- If a statement looks wrong, please notify us via any of our Support Channels within 30 days of the statement being issued and we will investigate. After 30 days, statements are treated as accepted, except in the case of a genuine error.
Payout Fees
- During our Limited Time Launch Promotion, payouts are free.
- After 31 July 2026, a payout fee of R2.99 [RI1] (excl VAT) applies per payout.
- The payout fee is deducted from your payout, so what lands in your bank is your transaction value, less the payout fee, less any other applicable deductions.
- See [Transaction Fees] and [Fee Summary] for the full pricing breakdown.
Why a Payout Might Be Delayed or Held
There are a few situations where a payout can be paused, delayed or held back:
- KYC / FICA verification still in progress: While we complete onboarding checks, transaction proceeds are held until verification is finalised. Trading is not affected, only the payout. See [Account Verification].
- Suspected fraud or unusual activity: If we spot transactions that look out of the ordinary for your business, we may pause your payouts while we investigate. See [Suspicious Activity].
- Active chargebacks or disputes: Funds may be held to cover possible chargeback liability. See [Chargebacks & Disputes] for more.
- Account under review or suspended: Where your account is being reviewed, payouts may be held until the review is complete.
- Reserve Account requirement: A portion of your funds may be retained in a Reserve Account. See Reserve Accounts below.
- Bank issues or returned debits: If your Nominated Bank Account rejects a payment (closed account, incorrect details, etc.), the funds will be returned to us and held until you provide updated banking details.
⚠️ Important: If your payout has not landed when you expected and you cannot see a clear reason in the App, please contact us via any of our Support Channels and we will investigate.
Requesting a Manual Payout
If your available balance is below the R500 minimum and you need access to those funds, you can request a manual payout.
- Contact us via any of our Support Channels.
- Provide your merchant ID and a brief reason for the request.
- Our team will review and process eligible requests within 1 business day.
- Manual payout requests are subject to the standard payout fee where applicable, and to the same checks as an automated payout.
Payouts After Account Closure
- When an account is closed, any pending settlement balance will be paid out on the next available payout date, after fees and any settlement charges are deducted.
- If your account is closed while there are open chargebacks, refund queries or fraud investigations, payouts may be delayed until those matters are resolved. See [Closing Your Account] for more.
